Selfoss is a part of the Municipality of Árborg. It is the largest town in South Iceland and the main service centre of trade and industry.
The Tourist Information Centre is located in the public library that also serves as an exhibition room.
Various accomodation possibilities are available, from luxurious hotels to apartment hotels and from homestay to cozy cottages.
Also there is a good campsite located in the heart of town.
Interesting restaurants and cafés are in Selfoss, a 9 hole golf course on the banks of the Ölfusá river, a swimming pool with hot jacuzzis and steam bath,
cinema, bus terminal and a great variety of shops and handicraft.
North of Selfoss is Hellisskógur with nice hiking trails by the Ölfusá river.
