Guðmundur Tyrfingsson Ltd. is a certificated travel agent and a coach company, founded 41 years ago in 1969. Every year the company organizes many interesting excursions and tours around Iceland both for Icelanders as well as foreign visitors. Guðmundur Tyrfingsson Ltd. operates about 40 coaches for 9 to 62 passengers, including 4x4 coaches. All of the vehicles have safety belts fitted to every seat and over 800 seats with three-point belts. All the coaches are equipped with air-conditioning, ABS brakes, reclining seats and footrests. Guðmundur Tyrfingsson ehf has a special car rental license and the coaches can be rented out for various occasions both with and without a driver.
The company has been leading in the coach service sector regarding environmental, safety and quality issues. It was the first company in the transport business to formulate an environmental policy that has been used as a guideline in the company’s management ever since. As a result, Guðmundur Tyrfingsson Ltd. received both the Icelandic Tourist Board’s environmental award in 2002 and the Beluga environmental certification. The company offers one of the youngest coach fleets of the passenger transport sector in Iceland.
